This is a full-time on-site role as an Oil Trader located in Malta. The Oil Trader will be responsible for analyzing market trends, managing and executing trades, monitoring supply and demand of oil and gas products, and developing business relationships with domestic and international clients. The Oil Trader will also be responsible for conducting research and creating and managing risk management reports. Our Malta office is seeking to recruit an Oil Trader, active in energy trading.

Your mission:

  • Be alert of market conditions, price fluctuations, and adjust trading strategies to develop and execute fuel oil trades accordingly.
  • Identify and manage the risks associated with fuel oil trading
  • Assist traders in placing orders, confirming trades, and ensuring that all documentation is correct during the transaction
  • Responsible for overseeing the logistical aspects of trades, including coordinating the shipping arrangements and ensuring that all documentation is in order to ensure smooth operation
  • Verify the terms, quantities, and pricing of trade contracts in order to ensure compliance with them
  • Maximize profitability while managing risk by optimizing trading positions
  • Create and maintain strong relationships with fuel oil suppliers, refineries, and partners.
  • Ensure favorable terms are negotiated and finalized for the company in supply contracts
  • Ensure trading activities are aligned with business objectives by collaborating with internal teams
  • Resolve operational issues, provide assistance with operational questions, and maintain effective communication
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports on trading activities, market trends, and performance metrics
  • Maintain a record of all activities related to trades and payments associated with them.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of trades and transactions for audit and compliance purposes.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • Minimum of 6-7+ years’ experience as an Oil Trader dealing with Oil & Petroleum Commodities. and able to bring flows and a business plan.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret market data
  • Strong understanding of commodity markets, including supply chain dynamics, pricing and familiarity with risk management practices.
  • Proficient in using trading platforms and systems
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic trading environment
  • Fluency in English (both written and spoken) any other language an asset
